A man and woman from Birmingham have been charged with Thursday’s armed robbery at the Dollar General on U.S. Highway 78 in Jasper.

Korrionne Dontrell Evans, 23, and Darylin Paige Thomas, 19, were taken into custody by Jasper police within minutes of robbing the business at 7:45 p.m. Thursday.

Jasper Police Chief J.C. Poe said Evans entered the store armed with a handgun to rob the business. Evans left the business with nothing. Thomas never entered the store, Poe said.

Evans is charged with first-degree robbery and is being held in the Walker County Jail.

Thomas was charged with first-degree robbery but was released from the Walker County Jail on an unsecured $10,000 bond.

Poe said JPD officers Billy Dill and Chris Webb, Sgt. Heath Allred and detectives Joe Herron and Cory Franks were the first law enforcement personnel on the scene and detained Evans and Thomas.
