15-year-old boy survives gunshot to the head

A 15-year-old boy has been released from a hospital after being shot in the head on Wednesday, according to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a release from sheriff officials, the incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m. Deputies were called to a residence on Air Plane Hollow Road in Nauvoo.

“Deputies arrived on the scene, along with the Carbon Hill Police Department and the Carbon Hill Rescue Squad,” according to the release. “When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a 15-year-old white male shot in the head while sitting in a vehicle.”

The boy was taken by ambulance to a Birmingham hospital where he was treated and released. The boy’s name has been withheld due to his age.

“Investigators are working the case and are following every lead,” sheriff officials said in the release. “Anyone with any information about the shooting should call the Walker County Sheriff’s Department at 205-300-6464.
