A former Eagle employee has returned to take on a role as a reporter and copy editor at the paper.

Briana Webster, who worked at the Eagle from 2004-2006 before leaving to teach English language arts at Parrish High School, and later at Curry High and Lupton Junior High School, began work Monday in the Eagle newsroom.

Webster will primarily report on education-related issues, including covering Jasper City Schools, Walker County Schools and Bevill State Community College. She will also serve as copy editor.

“The Eagle has always felt like home to me, and I’m glad to be returning here,” she said. “Writing has always been a passion of mine. Meeting new people and telling their story is something I enjoy.”

Webster is a 2001 graduate of Carbon Hill High School, a 2003 graduate of Bevill State and is a 2005 graduate of the University of Alabama.

“We welcome Briana back to our editorial team here at the Daily Mountain Eagle. In addition to her reporting responsibilities, she will play a vital role in the daily editing and proofing process. I consider this hire an investment for our readership family,” said Publisher Jack McNeely.
