Walker seventh-grade pitcher Skyler Birdyshaw tossed a no-hitter as the Vikings closed out the regular-season with a 10-0, six-inning win over Brilliant at Memorial Park on Senior Day.

Birdyshaw struck out six and only one Brilliant batter reached base in the game — on an error.

Walker got on the scoreboard with two runs in the second inning when Riley Speegle and Maegen Tubbs singled to start the inning and came around to score.

The Vikings added three more runs in the fourth. Tubbs got on base with a one-out single and scored on Erin Kennedy’s sacrifice for a 3-0 lead. Carleigh Taylor tripled and scored on an error off the bat of Maggie Ingram, who scored later in the inning for a 5-0 advantage.

Walker brought the game to an early finish thanks to a five-run sixth inning.

The first four batters reached base. Tubbs singled, Kennedy walked and Taylor walked to load the bases with no outs. Ingram followed with an RBI single and Aaliyah Thomas sacrificed in another run.

Kaylen Beasley drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Hannah Lockhart singled with two outs and came in to score Walker’s final run on a Birdyshaw hit.

The win was Walker’s 10th of the season. The Vikings won just two games last year.

There are two seniors on this year’s squad — Thomas and Sara Coger.

Next up for Walker is the Class 5A, Area 12 Tournament at Hayden set for later this week.

Walker is the No. 4 seed and will face area champion Hayden in the opening round. Curry will take on Mortimer Jordan is another first-round game.
