In lieu of a registration fee, participants will make a $10 donation the day of the run to the Cure JM Foundation, a national group that raises public awareness of and funds research for juvenile myositis.
“It’s a wonderful morning to come together to give thanks for our health and bring awareness and funds to Cure JM,” said Jennifer Smith, mother of one of two Walker County children who are affected by the rare autoimmune disease JM.
Registration will be held at 8 a.m. Thursday at the Memorial Park Natatorium. The 5K will begin at 8:30 and a Kid’s Turkey Chase will follow at 9 a.m.
Participants who donate $20 or more to the Cure JM Foundation will receive a T-shirt, bracelet, hat and an opportunity to win a variety of door prizes.
