The Eagles knocked off both Shades Mountain Christian and Meek on the day to finish the two-day tournament with a perfect 3-0 record.
Sumiton Christian (11-3) is now one win away from matching last year’s win total.
The Eagles gave up just 68 points on the Saturday.
In what proved to be the championship game, Sumiton Christian battled back from a halftime deficit to beat Meek 47-40 in the last game of the tournament.
The Eagles jumped out to a 14-6 lead after the opening quarter, but the Tigers rallied for a 20-19 halftime lead. Sumiton Christian regained the lead at 33-30 going into the final quarter.
Hobbs had a big game for the Eagles, scoring 17 points. Hudson Davis added nine, Cam Mercer and Nathan Godwin each had six and Austin Clark added five points.
For Meek (4-10), Jentson Hiller had 20 points and Seth Hayes had 12.
Sumiton Christian opened the day with a 40-28 win over Shades Mountain Christian.
Sumiton Christian held the visiting Eagles to just 12 first-half point en route to a 23-12 halftime lead.
The Eagles led 36-24 after three quarters.
Holy Spirit, which finished 2-1 in the tournament, took second place while the other four teams: Cordova, Meek, Shades Mountain Christian and St. Bernard each went 1-2. Sumiton Christian takes on Winston County in the opening round of the Meek Holiday Tournament on Thursday.
Stracner earns first win as Cordova boys coach
Cordova topped St. Bernard 69-62 in their second game of the day.
The win gave head coach Randy Stracner his first win as the Cordova boys coach.
Stracner, who also coaches the Cordova girls team, took over the boys when coach Daniel White stepped down from his post on Dec. 13. Stracner is now 1-4 as the Blue Devils’ head coach.
Against St. Bernard, Cordova led 18-13 after the opening quarter and 35-22 at halftime. The Devils pushed their lead to 20 points at 54-34 going into the final quarter.
For Cordova (2-8), Jamaal Cooper and Will Taft each had 17 points while Jonathan Softley added 14.
The Blue Devils dropped their first game Saturday, 64-37 to Holy Spirit.
Cooper had 14 points and Taft added six points in the loss.
Cordova hosts Sumiton Christian on Jan. 3.
