Reba Sherer Huver, 89, of Jasper, passed away at Princeton Baptist Hospital in Birmingham Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, followed at noon by funeral services. Father Joseph Lody will officiate. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. A reception in celebration of the life of Reba Huver will be at the church following burial.

Born and raised in Walker County, Huver was the daughter of Breck C. and Louise M. Sherer.

During the last years of World War II, she worked in airplane blades at Eaton Manufacturing Company in Battle Creek, Mich. In August 1945, she married Lawrence L. Huver Sr. in Hastings, Mich., where they lived until retiring and moving to Jasper in 1981. During that time, Huver worked 21 years at Sears Roebuck in Hastings, retiring as assistant store manager.

A long active member in the Order of the Eastern Star of Michigan, she rose to the highest position of Most Worthy Grand Matron. Among her many honors, she was extremely proud when appointed by the Grand Chapter of the State of Mississippi as Grand Representative from Michigan and was later inducted as Life Member, Order of the Eastern Star, Hastings, Mich., in 1990. Included in her years of service at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Huver was in the DCCW SW Deanery and St Cecilia Ladies Sodality, holding leadership positions in each group.

Until he passed away in 1995, Huver and her husband spent many happy years traveling and visiting grandchildren. Her last 13 years were spent in residence at The Terrace at Jasper Assisted Living Facility. Until the end she expressed only the highest amount of love and affection for the superior people on that staff.

Huver is survived by her oldest living son, John A. Robinson III (Nancy) of Huntsville; daughter, Jacqueline Huver Tramel (Neil) of Eustis, Fla.; daughter, Janice Huver Keeler of Lansing, Mich.; son, Phillip R. Huver of Tuscaloosa; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of friends, including special friend Dorothy Dean of Jasper.

She was preceded in death by her brother, the Rev. Del Sherer and his wife, Flonnie Sherer, of Jasper; and son, Lawrence L. Huver Jr. of Indianapolis.
