Morrison was a member of the Class of 1952 of Oakman High School. She was a member of Oakman United Methodist Church. She retired from Alfa Insurance in 1997 after a 28 year career. Upon her retirement, she said her favorite part of her job was advising and helping people with their insurance. Her life touched many with her understanding and loving ways. Her legendary fried chicken will be missed by many.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Morrison; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Morrison; granddaughter, Paige Morrison; and grandson, Jordan Morrison, all of Birmingham; her sister, Carolyn Cooper (Ron) of Gardendale; brother, B.W. Sides (Bettye) of Oakman; sister-in-law, Ruby Morrison and brother-in-law, Charles Curtis Morrison of Fultondale; special nephew, Strib Hood of Oakman; special friend and wonderful caregiver, Sylvia Leonard of Birmingham; a host of nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
The funeral will be Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper with Rev. Jody Baker presiding. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at Walker Memory Gardens following the service. Pallbearers are Rodney Morrison, Strib Hood, Mike Sides, Don Morrison, Jeff Cooper and Jordan Morrison. Honorary pallbearers are Connor Cooper, Hudson Hanner and Jackson Hanner.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Bank of Walker County to the Morrison Memorial Scholarship Fund benefiting deserving Oakman High School seniors.
