Mildred was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Ala., for 38 years. She was dedicated to the Senior Adult Programs, especially the nursing home birthday parties which she conducted with great enthusiasm. She was President of the Jacksonville National Secretaries Association, President of the Jacksonville State University Faculty Wives Club and President of the Progressive Study Club.
Mildred is survived by her loving husband, Clyde, to whom she was married 65 years; sister, Hazel Kyle Sherer; nieces, Ann Simmons, Judy Bradford, Joan Eastwood, Martha Brown, Frances Justice, Billie Cunningham and Carolyn Godfrey; nephews, Frankie, Steve and David Sherer, and Larry and Jerry Kyle; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She is also survived by Terry, Dana and Nan Hanson, three very important people in her life and whom she loved very much.
The family wishes to thank everyone at Galleria Woods who cared for her. She especially thanks her husband, Clyde, and Jimmy McSpadden for their dedication to her many needs during the last years of her life. Mildred was always supportive of her husband's educational endeavors. She loved and appreciated the members of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. She loved children very much. She and Clyde were not fortunate to have children of their own, but she and Clyde were privileged and blessed to help raise nieces, nephews and children of very close friends. She wants to thank her friends for sharing the love of their children with her.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Kyle; sisters, Jessie Brown, Elsie Nabors and Nora Barrett; and brother, Dewey Kyle.
Private viewing will be held for family, Hanson family and Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity members at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper today, May 2, 2012 at noon. The family will receive friends there at 1 p.m.. A memorial Service will be held there at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Jasper following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the week day preschool ministry of the First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 400, Jacksonville, Alabama 36265.
