Mildred Jean Brown, 89, of Athens, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born on June 15, 1923, in Winston County to Erskine and Nancy Key. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Athens.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon at Spry Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Jasper. Joe Teal will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Brown; sons, Barney Brown and Glen Brown; and brother, E.C. Key.

She is survived by her sons, Jim Brown and wife, JoAnn, of Madison and Mark Brown and wife, Paddi, of Bessemer; brother, Ken Key of Jasper; sister, Joyce (Geri) West of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jason Chambers, David Perea, Chad Brown, Chuck Brown, Shawn Brown and Chris Key.
