PARRISH — Quarterback Brody Meeks connected with Ben Cagle for four touchdowns and rushed for another score Friday night as Lynn coasted to a 38-16 win over Parrish.

The Bears defense, which has struggled to keep teams out of the end zone this season, dominated the Tornadoes in the first half, allowing only two first downs.

By contrast, Parrish could not stop Lynn’s dynamic offense. Meeks found Cagle early and often, twice on the first drive for 24 yards and a touchdown to take an early 6-0 lead. Cagle scored on passes of 15, 32, and 9 yards respectively, in the first half alone, to help the Bears build a 22-0 halftime lead.

The Bears (2-6, 1-5) picked up the second half where they left off the first, driving 65 yards for a touchdown on another Meeks to Cagle pass. The 5-yard touchdown pass wouldn’t be the last of the night. On the following drive Parrish fumbled a bad snap and allowed Lynn to recover.

Meeks took advantage and scored from 9 yards out on a quarterback keeper on the ensuing play to give Lynn an insurmountable 38-0 lead.

Parrish (2-6, 1-5) continued to fight however, scoring on a 35-yard touchdown pass from Reid Robertson to Spencer Piper. Later in the fourth quarter, the Tornadoes scored again on a 5-yard run by Tarion Sherer to finish the game with a 38-16 loss, their seventh of the season.  Piper led the Tornadoes with 40 yards rushing and 39 yards receiving. Robertson was 9 of 20 passing on the night for Parrish with 73 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

The Bears were led by their star Meeks, who went 18 of 26 passing for 185 yards and four touchdowns, all of which were to Ben Cagle, who caught 11 passes for 118 yards in total. Meeks also added 35 yards rushing on nine carries with one touchdown to lead Lynn’s rushing attack.

Lynn travels to Hubbertville next week, while Parrish tries to bounce back at South Lamar.
