Maudie Bell Thompson Glisson, 75, of Nauvoo, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at her residence.

A memorial service will be held today, Dec, 28, 2013, at 1 p.m., at the Nazarene Church in Saragossa with Bro. Greg Tinker officiating the service.

Maudie was born in Ashford in Houston County. She moved to Miami, Fla., with her family at a young age, when she married and lived until moving back to Walker County where she lived out the remainder of her years. Maudie was known for her interesting sense of humor and always being a prankster at heart.

She was preceded in death by her son, Eddie Glisson; parents, Odell Thompson and Lillie Thompson Harten; stepfather, Chester Harten; two brothers, Robert Thompson and James Anderson Wright; and son-in-law, Roger Harten.

She is survived by her husband, Horace “Rusty” Glisson of Jasper; three daughters, Linda Harten and her fiancee, James “Bullet” Wilson, of Nauvoo, Alma Prosser of Carbon Hill, and Bobbie Snow and her husband, Eddie, of Jasper; two sons, James Glisson and his lifemate, Linda Williams, of Jasper (and ex-wife, Betty Glisson of Carbon Hill), and Odean Glisson of Jasper; two sisters, Eunice Yarbrough of Blaufort, S.C., and Evelyn Lesley of Jasper; daughter-in-law, Debbie Glisson of Jasper; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; special friend of the family, Truman Keeton; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
