On Nov. 29, 2012, Mary Elizabeth Scott passed peacefully into the arms of waiting angels after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was 26.

Mary was born on Sept. 29, 1986, in Jasper, to Mary Elizabeth (Beth) James Hayden and Robert Lee (Bobby) Scott Jr.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Charles Ray James and Robert Lee Scott Sr.

Mary is survived by her parents, Beth Hayden and Bobby Scott; brothers, Marine Sgt. Patrick Ryan Scott of Twentynine Palms, Calif., and Jacob Tyler Scott of Fort Myers, Fla.; her grandmothers, Mary Ethel James and Martha Scott Osborne; and her stepfather, John Hayden. She also leaves many loving aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of wonderful friends and neighbors.

Mary was an accounting major at the University of Montevallo, and worked at The Cheesecake Factory at the Summit. She gave so much joy and sparkle to everyone touched by her life. Mary chose to be a part of the Anatomical Donor Program at UAB to assist in medical research.

A celebration of Mary’s life for family and friends was held on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at her home in Argo.

Her family wishes to thank everyone for their love and support. Special gratitude to Dr. Mack Barnes and Dr. Ira Gore, the staff at Bruno Cancer Center, and Hope Hospice.

Memorial gifts may be given to Hope Hospice, Bruno Cancer Center, American Cancer Society of Alabama, or any charity dear to your heart.
