Barton was a member of New Beginnings Church in Graysville; was retired from Hayes Aircraft after 19 years; was a member of Brooklin Masonic Lodge #704, where he received his 50 year pin on March 9, 2013. He was founder and owner of Barton Auto Parts, established in 1971. He was an avid race car enthusiast, owning and driving race cars at BIR and Sayre Speedway.
Visitation will be today, March 23, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 24, 2014, at 1 p.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Tim Bozeman will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Adamsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby and Alta (Harper) Barton; and two brothers, Cecil and Lacy Barton.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Aileen Barton of Bagley; son, Jimmy Barton of Bagley; daughters, Brenda Roberts (David) of Sumiton and Beverly Franklin of Dora; grandchildren, Michael Roberts, Steve Roberts (Bethany), Jennifer Moon (Chase), Lee Franklin (Amanda), Britney Cronin (J.J.) and Misty Franklin; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Nicholas Richmond, T.L. and Michael Franklin, Dylan and Dalton Roberts and Natalie Broadhead; brothers, Casey Barton (Joyce), Billy Barton (Mary) and Garlon Barton (Sandra); sisters-in-law, Ruth Barton, Betty Barton and Irene Bell.
