He was preceded in death by his parent, James Arthur and Doris Salter Vance; his sisters, Janis Vance and Ann Hooper; and brother, Ray Vance.
He is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Ray) Otts; grandsons, Joshua (Ashley) Otts and Brooks Otts; sisters, Sue Glaze, Carolyn (Wayne) Jones and Teresa Monk; and numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends and other relatives.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home in Hueytown from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Friday July 6, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Freewill Cemetery in West Jefferson. The Rev. Crantford Hick will be officiate.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mary Vance Lowery for her loving care, dedication and companionship. Sonny understood true friends are rare and he was proud to know Robert McCarty as his lifelong friend and the family wants to thank him for his love and support.
