Horace M. “Red” Cleghorn, 80, and a resident of Brookside Drive in Columbia, passed away on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Signature Health Care in Columbia.

The family will celebrate his life with services at Liberty Baptist Church in Helicon, on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at 1 p.m. They will visit with friends from 11 a.m. until the service time. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family and in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Helicon, Horace was born on April 5, 1932. He was the son of the late Fletcher and Arbell Cleghorn. He was of the Baptist faith and previously worked as a truck driver for a concrete company. He was one of 15 children.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Cleghorn of Jasper; two sons, Larry Cleghorn of Columbia and Gary Cleghorn of Jasper; sister, Verlene Vigal of Birmingham; step-sister, Wilma Jean Farley of Arley; six grandchildren, Rebecca Pena, Brian Willocks, Ben (Sara) Willocks, Jesse Cleghorn, Megan Cleghorn and John Colton Cleghorn; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John Cleghorn; and thirteen brothers and sisters.
