He was retired from Eastern Airlines and was a substitute teacher. He was a member of First Baptist Mt. Olive, a member of the Marine Corps League and a Mason for over 60 years and was a member of the Metro West 927 Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Greatest Generation, and proudly served in the United States Navy and as a Marine Corpsman during WWII.
Jarvis was preceded in death by his parents, George and Bertie Mae Jarvis; brother, Gene Jarvis; and infant sister, Geraldine Jarvis.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kathleen Jarvis; daughter, Cathy Stephens (Skip); son, Mark Edward Jarvis (Lisa); grandchildren, Travis Stephens (Donna), Wendy Kim (David), Chase Barton (Kasey), Sarah Fields (Patrick), and Erica Smith (Larry); and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home in Adamsville. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. until time of service. Bro. Doug Moore and Bro. Jason Rogers presiding.
