“We had this place, and I always thought we could use it as some kind of ministry,” Pamela Adams said. “I felt like it could be something more than just a motel.”
Bobby and Pamela Adams decided earlier this year to transform their motel into a transitional housing facility for women. They named the facility “Behold the Lamb.”
“We felt like this was the right thing to do,” Bobby Adams said.
The couple described Behold the Lamb as a faith-based center that helps women overcome addiction issues.
“We have a lot of different churches who are partnering with us,” Bobby Adams said. “We’ve even had a dentist offer to help our ladies, and we have a cosmetologist who will cut their hair for free. We’re trying to show these ladies that someone cares about them and wants to help them get their lives back on track.”
Jason and Jennie Key are a newly-married couple who are also on the administrative staff of Behold the Lamb. The Keys became involved with the ministry after a chance meeting with Bobby Adams.
“Jason and I had just been talking about wanting to get involved in something like this and Bobby walked into my work with some pamphlets,” Jennie Key said. “We wanted to help Behold the Lamb any way we could from the minute we heard about it.”
Jason Key said the group has worked well together.
“This has all come together really fast,” he said. “It’s definitely a God thing. We all have unique gifts and talents, and we’ve been able to work perfectly together.”
Open for about a month, Behold the Lamb currently has two clients, both recommend to the group by the court system. The facility currently has room for 32 women. Jason Key said the minimum stay at the facility is six months.
“We have a very structured program, and six months is not a long time to try to transform your life,” he said. “The two ladies currently with us are court ordered for one year.”
The group is currently accepting donations.
“We’re happy if someone gives us a toothbrush,” Jason Key said. “Any items that someone might have to donate, we’d be happy to take them. We can put just about anything to good use.”
