Smith-Gurganus

Bobby and Diana Smith of Jasper are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Smith of Parrish, to Will Gurganus of Parrish, the son of Dennis and Julie Gurganus of Parrish.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Barbara Smith and the late Bobby Smith and Lamar Lynn and the late Bonnie Lynn, all of Jasper.

She is a graduate of Curry High School and has attended Bevill State Community College and the University of North Alabama. She is currently employed with the Bank of Parrish.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Tom and Nell Gurganus and Louise and the late Connie Brunner, all of Parrish.

He is a graduate of Parrish High School and attended Bevill State Community College. He is currently employed with Alabama Power Southern Company.

The wedding will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Mountain View Gardens and Ballroom in Springville.

Westerman-Mehan

Dr. and Mrs. Jan Westerman of Jasper announce the engagement of their daughter, Dorsey Elizabeth Westerman, to Robert Shane Mehan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Chester Huffman of McDonough, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Henry Mehan of Moreland, Ga.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary Reed Simpson Daugette and the late Forney Rutledge Daugette Jr. of Gadsden, and Mr. and Mrs. William Marten Westerman of Edenton, N.C.

She is a graduate of Auburn University and a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She is currently employed with Greenway Medical Technologies in Carrollton, Ga.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Ms. Cassina Maddox of McDonough, Ga., Mr. Lester Leland Maddox of Stockbridge, Ga. , and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gayle Mehan of McDonough, Ga.

He is a graduate of West Georgia University and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He is currntly employed with Greenway Medical Technologies in Carrollton, Ga.

The wedding will take place at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at the Chapel of St. Francis at Camp McDowell in Nauvoo.

Barton-Hayes

Roy Edward Barton of Jasper and Gail Perkins Barton of Dresden, Tenn., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Leighann Barton, to Steven Edward Hayes, the son of Timothy Wayne Hayes of Birmingham and Carolyn Rakestraw Hayes of Birmingham.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Betty McGhee Perkins and the late Calvin Lee Perkins of Dresden, Tenn., and Betty Sullivan and Lee Roy Barton of Jasper.

She is a 2008 graduate of Samford University with a Bachelor in History and a 2010 graduate of the University of Alabama with a masters in library and information studies. She is currently employed as an E-Content Specialist with EBSCO International Headquarters in Birmingham.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late William Edward and Eloise Salser Rakestraw of Birmingham, and James and Tommie Hayes of Margaret.

He is a 2009 graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.S. in operations management. He is currently employed with Hyundai Motor Manufacturing.

The wedding will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at Shades Mountain Independent Church.
