Visitation will be today, Nov. 20, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be Thursday Nov. 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Joe Tully will officiate. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester (Sid) Wingo and Ludie J. Wingo; his brothers, James Elmer Wingo and James Wingo; and his sisters, Gertrude Hill and Gertie Mae Justice.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Sadie Jean Dooley Wingo; his son, Dr. Bruce Wingo (Marcie); his daughter, Beverly Joan Wingo Cagle; his brothers, Loyal Wingo and Lee Wingo (Shirley); his sister, Lula Mae Pittman (Henry); his grandsons, Patrick Wingo, Matthew Wingo (Alana) and Jonathan Cagle; his granddaughter, Dr. Elizabeth Wingo; and his great-granddaughter, Caroline Wingo.
He is also survived by many loving nephews, nieces and cousins. He was a decorated Marine during World War II. On Nov. 25, 1949, he became a member of Maryland Lodge 783 of Free and Accepted Masons in Sipsey. He was honored on Jan. 6, 2000, for 50 years of continuous service. He was a member of Argo Missionary Baptist Church and will be missed by all his family and friends.
