Clovis Duval Fikes Jr., 75, of Eldridge, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.

Mr. Fikes was born on February 6, 1937, in Walker County, a son of Clovis Duval Fikes Sr. and Minnie Lee Downey Fikes; graduate of Carbon Hill High School; U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran; previously employed with General Dynamics Astronautics in San Diego, Calif.; owned and operated Fikes Grocery for 35 years until he retired; and he was a member of Eldridge Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred and Jim Fikes.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Rita Lewis Fikes of Eldridge; three sons, Glyn Fikes of Pilot Point, Texas, Dennis Fikes of Eldridge, and Phillip Fikes of Moody; one brother, David Fikes and sister-in-law, Paulette of Eldridge; one sister, Regina Baughn and brother-in-law, Terry of Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home. James McCullough officiating. Burial to follow in Colburn Cemetery with Miles Funeral Home of Winfield directing the service.
