Members of the Gathering Ministries Family Church in Walker County will be hosting a “Care Fair” from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, where they will be handing out wrapped gifts to those in need of help this holiday season.

“We know there are a lot of people in our community who sometimes need a little help at Christmas,” Pastor Allen Bailey said. “Members of our church will be handing out gifts to boys and girls, and their parents, who need it.”

Church member Ricky Allred said, with times as tough as they are this year, the church wanted to reach out and let folks see the love of God at work.

“We know there are people we need to reach out to, especially at this time of the year,” said Ricky Allred, a member of the church and one of the organizers of the event, “so we’re going to be at the church Saturday to share the love of God with those in need and to let them know God will be there to help if they will just call on him.”

The Gathering Ministries Family Church is located on Alabama Highway 78 East near the Warrior River Bridge at Lynn’s Park in Cordova.

‘If you’re going toward Argo and Sumiton the church will be the first building on your left after you cross the bridge,” Allred said. “It’s the building that looks like a castle.”
