Brandy Bonner, 34, of Carbon Hill, was arrested last Friday and charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and second-degree promoting prison contraband after a lengthy investigation by police, according to Carbon Hill Assistant Police Chief Matt Dozier. She was released from jail after posting bonds totaling $45,000.
Bonner was immediately suspended from duty pending a review by city council members and Carbon Hill Mayor Pee Wee Richardson.
“This was a difficult case to work because it involved a co-worker,” Dozier said, “but this is something we’re not going to tolerate. The laws apply to all of us no matter what we do.”
Dozier said evidence from the investigation was sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science.
