Bessie Mae King Studdard passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013, at the age of 93.

Studdard was born and lived in Townley, a place that was dear to her heart. She will always be remembered for her love of gardening, animals and her flowers. She always made Christmas and Easter a special time for her and her family. Due to her sense of humor and creativeness, her family will always cherish those memories.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today, June 27, 2013, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013, at Collins-Burke Chapel with burial at Oakhill Cemetery. Per her request, her grandson-in-law, Dale Smith, will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James B. Studdard.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Tittle, Sharon Studdard and Kay Kanwal (Rich); son, James T. "Jimmy" Studdard (Rita); 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a very special family member, A.R. Smith.

The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to New Beacon Hospice and the staff at Ridgeview Health Services.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Autism Society of Alabama at www.autism-alabama.org.
