A 60 percent chance of rain has led to Art in the Park being relocated from Gamble Park to the Glen Clem Gymnasium on the Bevill State Community College campus in Jasper.

Organizers made the decision Friday morning.

“Safety is our main concern, and a wonderful experience for visitors and artists and performers is our goal,” said Beth Sargent, executive coordinator of the Walker County Arts Alliance.

The times for the event are unchanged — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All performances will go on as scheduled as well.

Local singers/songwriters Rick and Jilda Watson, The Spook House Saints, Skip Cochran, Joe Greg Winsett and Michael Cannon are expected to perform in the gym.

The Birmingham Children’s Theatre and other performers will be in the student center.

More than 65 artists from across the state and Southeast are expected to participate in the 10th annual Art in the Park.

Awards will be handed out in nine categories, and a People’s Choice and Best in Show will also be selected.

The event will also feature a children’s activity area, a display of artwork by Walker High School students and a variety of concessions.
