Last year’s fundraiser generated $5,000 for the Arc’s Children Services, which benefits approximately 150 local kids per year.
Programs included in Children Services are early Headstart, Early Intervention, pre-K and outpatient services.
Children’s services director Angela Washington said Early Intervention, which assists children from birth to three with developmental delays, experienced a 30 percent loss in funding two years ago.
The Pre-K program has not had a budget increase in its five years of existence, according to Washington.
Further budget cuts are also looming.
“It’s still very much a reality,” Washington said.
Registration for “Run 4 Kids” will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday. The fee is $30.
A 5K will begin at 9 a.m. and a Fun Run will follow at 9:30 a.m. Awards will be presented at 10:15 a.m.
