A brief graveside service will be held today, June 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. at McDade Cemetery in Carbon Hill, where she was born and raised and finished school in 1954.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Millbrook and a devoted member of her prayer group. She served several volunteer organizations during her husband’s 30 years in the Air Force all over the U.S. and overseas, including hospitals, the Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Maxwell Pharmacy and her church Welcome Center.
Kosick’s parents preceded her in death, Cooper and Judy Atkins; including her brother, Jim Atkins; and her husband, CMSGT John Kosick.
She will be greatly missed by her sisters, Helen A. Williams of Millbrook and Betty A. Willingham of Leeds. Also surviving her is a son, Mark Melton of Albany, Kentucky; brothers, James Doyle Atkins of Equality and Larry Atkins (Jan) of McCalla; six nephews; one niece; and many friends and family.
