He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Albert Jackson; and two sisters, Jean Belton Ballenger and Jacquelyn Nelson.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, "Betty" Elizabeth Jackson; a son, Mark Jackson and his wife, Angie; two grandchildren, Timothy Jackson and Annie Jackson; as well as three step-grandchildren. Also, he is survived by nieces and nephews.
Jackson graduated from Woodberry School in Orange in 1950. He went to Duke University, and graduated with a B.S. in psychology. He was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Chapter at Duke University.
Later, he did some graduate work, and also served for four years in the United States Air Force.
Albert and Betty lived in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C. before moving to Roanoke, Va. in 2005. He retired as a programmer from Bank of America. Albert was a member of the Unitarian Church of Roanoke.
It was his request that upon his death, his body be donated to the Anatomical Board of Virginia. A graveside ceremony will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial contribution be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Roanoke Office, 3959 Electric Road, Suite 357, Roanoke, VA 24018.
