Veterans mark holiday at Carbon Hill ceremony

Veterans and military families gathered Saturday at the American Legion Post 101 in Carbon Hill to mark Veterans Day with a ceremony and a lunch. "Taps" was played, while Blue Star and Gold Star tributes were made, and a POW/MIA White Table Ceremony was held. State Sen. Greg Reed, R-Jasper, presented the post an American flag on behalf of U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt, who could not come as scheduled as he flew with President Trump on Air Force One to the Bama-LSU game.

Bevill State Community College students, in cooperation with the City of Jasper, held a Clean Home Alabama cleanup on Thursday at Gamble Park. The college planned a similar cleanup in Sumiton.
