The Jasper Foothills Show Choir Classic kicks off today at Jasper High School to highlight show choir groups from Alabama and surrounding states. Encore, Jasper High's male and female choir, is scheduled to compete at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, while the high school's female-only show choir group, Diamonds, will perform at the end of Friday night's competition. Friday's competition will be from approximately 5 to 9:30 p.m., and Saturday's competition will begin bright and early at 8 a.m. and last until at least 10:45 p.m., with groups competing throughout the day. A ticket good to see both days of competition is $15.

St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Jasper hosted their 42nd annual Valentine’s Coffee and Luncheon today. The event is sponsored by the Episcopal Church Women, with proceeds benefitting the St. Mary's Food Bank. Guests enjoyed a meal and fellowship and had an opportunity to bid on silent auction items donated to the church. Arts and crafts vendors were also set up at St. Mary's to benefit the cause. Last year, over 6,300 bags of groceries were given to over 11,500 people through the church's food ministry.
