Community Action Agency benefits from bowling event

Walker County Community Action Agency, Inc., (WCCCA) held its first "Bowling for Youth “ fundraiser Saturday. All proceeds helped in funding the 10-year old WCCAA "SKY" Youth Afterschool and Summer Program, which recently moved into a facility on Sixth Avenue in Jasper. The program is for youth between ages of 5-15 and helps youth avoid risk-taking behavior, provides healthy meals, increases physical activity, improves social behavior, and improves academics during summer months. Each five-member team bowled three games, and the three highest got a trophy. Those fielding teams included Alabama Power, Synovus, the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, Hiott Financial, Pinnacle Bank, the Walker County District Attorney’s Office, the WCCCA, state. Rep. Connie Rowe, Corey Franks and attorney Charles C. Tatum.
