Ridgeview Health Services and Ridgewood Health Services held their Living Nativity scene on Tuesday night at Ridgeview. Local residents in the community braved the cold to witness a re-enactment of the Biblical story from Luke, complete with a live camel and other animals. Many also viewed a recreated street scene in Bethlehem, where, following the biblical story, visitors signed in for the census and paid their taxes. Children also participated in crafts and had treats. more
A retirement reception was held last Thursday for Diane Allen, center, who is retiring after 26 years as an administrative assistant for the juvenile court in Walker County. Allen said the best part of the job has been the people she has worked with, noting she has worked with six judges over time. She has two daughters, juvenile probation officer Brandi Key and Nicole Nix, both of Boldo, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The Walker County Commission is looking at joining a lawsuit against drug manufacturers concerning the proliferation of opioids — although one commissioner who is in the health care industry had some concerns about rushing into the legal action without seeing the wording. more
