An opening reception for “Celebrating Our Communities: Chapter 3” was held Thursday at the Bankhead House and Heritage Center. The exhibit includes artifacts from Farmstead, Jasper, Manchester, Thach and Saragossa. Examples include a model of the Drummond Company dragline Ol Tobe II, a throw from the Saragossa Fire Department, a model of the Walker County Courthouse (1908-1932), and a syrup pitcher from Uncle Mort’s. The exhibit will remain open through June 14.

TherapySouth in Jasper hosted an open house and ribbon cutting last Wednesday. The new Jasper business, which opened in November, provides a number of services, such as orthopedic and post surgical rehabilitation, vestibular rehab, chronic pain management therapy and physical therapy for athletes. A ribbon-cutting was held for the new location of Niki's Solon Monday at 1500 9th Ave. in Jasper, next to the Jasper Feed and Seed.  Owner Niki Sherer, a Curry native who lives now in Jasper, said the business opened there about six weeks ago, after moving from from its Highway 78 West location after eight years. The business employs five people.  The salon is open Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon; appointments for later are welcome.  Anyone may contact the business by its Facebook or Instagram pages, or by calling 205-265-2574; employees can also be reached on their social media pages.

Marlene Hyde of Oakman and Nina Edgil of Jasper were the winners of dolls raffled off by the Doll Haven Doll Club on Dec. 11. Proceeds from the raffle were used to help needy families at Christmas.
